Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease. It is characterized by an excessive accumulation of fat, and is classified as having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 or above in the Asian population, or 30 or above in the Western populations.

Obesity is associated with diabetes, fatty liver, hyperlipidemia, and increases the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke. In particular, obesity increases the risk of 13 types of cancers, including breast, colorectum, pancreas, ovary, and liver cancer. Additionally, weight gain can be exacerbated through negative social and psychological experiences such as prejudice and discrimination caused by obesity.

At the Obesity and Metabolic Health Center of Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital, we offer individualized and tailored treatments to solve obesity. We set up an evaluation and treatment plan for obesity through specialized medical care for obesity. We provide education on nutrition, dietary habits, exercise/physical activity, and when necessary, we treat obesity through medication and surgical treatment.

First-time visitors will check their obesity status and characteristics through height/weight, InBody®, and abdominal fat CT scan.

For medical management, we use obesity treatment drugs that have been approved for the purpose of weight loss and have proven safety.
