The Department of Pathology is the laboratory medicine department for diagnosis by analyzing the morphological change of tissues and tissue liquids of patients according to the requests from clinical departments to identify the causes of diseases. Moreover, the Department of Pathology plays a critical role in estimating the recuperation time of patients and providing customized therapies for patients through accurate decisions on the tumor stage and a variety of biomarker tests.

About Department of Pathology
The professors in the Department of Pathology in KDH provide quick and accurate pathological diagnosis results using immunopathology tests, molecular pathology tests, classical surgical pathology tests, and cytopathology tests. In particular, the Department of Pathology plays a critical role in estimating the recuperation time of patients and therapy approaches for patients by an accurate diagnosis through various tests, including histochemical staining, immunohistochemical staining, electron microscopy, and molecular pathology tests.
Target Tests
Cytopathology | Diagnosing cancer cells and diseases by analyzing the cell Pap samples as requested using exfoliative cytology(expectoration, cervical cancer cystoscopy) body fluid crytoscopy(ascite fluid, thoracic fluid, cerebrospinal fluid) fine needle aspiration cytology
Tissue pathology | Diagnosis is segmented into digestive system dermatitis neurosis kidney cardiopulmonary pathology hematopathology obstetrics pathology osteopathology soft-tissue pathology ophthalmological pathology oral pathology pediatric pathology liver pathology molecular pathology immune pathology
Special pathology tests | Special pathology tests: Immunohistochemical staining: Test to identify origins, antigens, and genes of tissues.
| Immunofluorescence assay: Test on antigens and genes using a fluorescence microscope.
| Flow cytometric test: Quantitative test on immunologic features.
| Molecular pathology test: Test to identify genetic disorders.
| Insituhybridization (ISH) test: DNA and RNA test inside the tissue.
| Morphometry: Quantitative survey on pathological test opinions.
| Tissue PCR test: Classification of diagnosis and types, gene research on tumors.
| Autopsy: Test to identify the causes of diseases leading to the death of a patient.
